This M2 program is completely flexible to fit your professional project as closely as possible. All courses are based on the cutting-edge research themes of the Geology Laboratory of Lyon (LGL-TPE), a world leader in geosciences research. Your teachers are internationally renowned researchers in their field, who will be committed to training you in their discipline. A wide range of options will allow you to specialize in paleontology, sedimentology, internal Earth processes (dynamics, mineralogy, etc.), planetology, tectonics, and geomorphology. .... Your completely personalized curriculum in the 1st semester is followed by a 6-month research internship.

More than 90% of our alumni choose to start a PhD. Beyond the PhD, they pursue successful careers in French or international academic research, or join the R&D departments of innovative French or foreign companies.

This Master's degree is open to international exchanges and is entirely taught in English.

Teaching takes place on the campuses of the ENS de Lyon and LyonTech-La Doua (University Lyon 1).

During the first semester, you will have to choose 10 UEs of 3 credits from the following list to create your personalized path. To help you do this, we have labeled the options according to major research profiles: Earth and Planets (EP, orange ); Surface and Lithosphere (SL, grey ) et Paleontology/Sedimentology/Paleo-environments (PSP, green ).

Whatever your subject choices during the first semester, you will carry a 6-month-long Research Internship during the second semester. This internship is worth 30 credits. You can find the research internship subjects proposed at the Laboratoire de Géologie de Lyon here..
